Peony in Perfumery
Paeonia lactiflora gives the perfumer almost nothing - the flower refuses distillation. Every peony in perfumery is therefore a composition in itself: rose oxide for the petals' cool dew, lychee for their translucence, a breath of green stem. It is perfumery's most beautiful illusion.
